Believe it or not, this year marks The Morrison Center’s 20th anniversary. To celebrate, we’re sharing with you Dr. Morrison’s unique practice philosophy.

At The Morrison Center, we believe that our body has an innate ability to detoxify and heal itself.  When our body is not functioning at its optimal level, our normal detoxifying and healing systems can become dysfunctional and symptoms of fatigue, brain fog, difficulty concentrating and inflammation can become a problem. Our goal as practitioners is to partner with you to find and correct underlying deficiencies and to uncover and treat underlying infections, toxins or traumas that may increase toxicity and interfere with your natural healing process.

To accomplish these goals, after a detailed consultation and lab work, we’ve created a simple strategy to guide your healing journey. We call this strategy 3M / 2S.  We focus on 3 core building blocks of optimal health by individualizing a person’s: Meal plan, Movement program and Mindset. We also use our experience as practitioners and an integrative medicine approach to interpret your test results and give you meaningful recommendations about appropriate Supplements and Services.

Let’s go into the 3 ‘M’s of our 3M / 2S approach!

Meal Plan
With every initial consultation, we’ll ask you what you typically eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That’s because what you put into your body on a daily basis is essential for achieving optimal health. Using the info you give us combined with our assessment about your individual needs and situation, we begin to develop a personalized meal plan that you can realistically adopt and enjoy. The nutritional aspect of your treatment plan is a core component necessary for achieving optimal results. We highly recommend working with our health coaches as an integral part of your healing journey with us.

Movement Program
A stagnant body of water can quickly accumulate toxins from the environment and become a breeding ground for disease. Our body is made of over 70% water. So, it’s reasonable to think that in order for our body to stay healthy, we need to drink plenty of water to flush out toxins, and we need to move to keep all of that fluid circulating and to clear away accumulated cellular debris and waste. Given your current health goals, we may recommend home movement exercises, exercise classes, or working with a personal trainer.

Movement can also get deeper than just physical exercise. There is also a role for cellular exercise, which can help our cells improve their ability to create energy, utilize nutrients and clear waste. For this we sometimes recommend Biomagnetism therapy by Dr. Luis Garcia, or PEMF (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field) therapy to help cells work more efficiently.

Mindset
Here at The Morrison Center, we’re always talking about the balance between optimal physical health and optimal nervous system health. This is important because our physical health affects our emotions and our emotions affect our physical health. We very often find patients enter into repetitive patterns of behavior that they don’t feel are serving their best interests any longer.  Whether it’s feeling hungry all of the time or feeling quick to get stressed or a feeling of being unsettled about something, the common thread is the sense of being out of balance. Our goal is to help identify where that feeling is originating and help find a solution to bring it into balance.

This is important, because the feeling is out of our logical control. We can understand it by thinking about it. But, we certainly can’t think it away. So, this is when we incorporate non-thought or non-cognitive techniques, like reiki by Sarah Harper or Emotion Code by Stephanie Mandel to help you achieve greater success in releasing stuck feelings and emotions.
