Zucchini Noodle

There’s a new dish in town and it’s a game changer for pasta-lovers: zucchini noodles. If you haven’t tried them yet, we highly recommend you jump on the zoodle wagon pronto. Buy yourself an inexpensive spiralizer (or a fancy one if you can spare the counter space) and get ready to upgrade your vegetable game.

Step #1: Choose your zucchini.
The best zucchinis for noodle-making are medium-sized, fresh and firm. Stored for too long, the inside can get mushy, which makes spiralizing more difficult (and messy).

Step #2: Spiralize your zucchini.
It’s pretty simple, and there are countless online videos to demonstrate – take your pick.

Step #3: Prepare your zoodle dish.
You can enjoy your zoodles raw, steamed or sauteed. Raw zucchini has a cool, refreshing bite and fresh flavor; lightly steaming it creates a softer texture, more similar to actual pasta. It can also be quickly sauteed with your favorite sauce which will give it an al dente texture. The general rule is, don’t overdo any cooking method.

Step #4: Add your toppings.
You can flavor your zucchini noodles in a number of ways. Here are just a few ideas:
Tomato sauce or No-mato sauce (Recipe from The Curious Coconut)
Fresh pesto with garlic, basil, olive oil, lemon juice and sea salt
Try this protein-rich Hemp Pesto (Recipe from Two Purple Figs)
Enjoy Asian style with Sesame Zucchini Noodles (Recipe from Zenbelly)

Once you start making zucchini noodles, the possibilities are endless. They’re a great way to get your pasta fix and stay healthy. Please, share your favorite “zoodle” recipes with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
