Preparation for blood draws

Drink plenty of water (at least 8oz) the day before/day of blood draw (even if you are fasting)

No caffeine morning of blood draw (example: coffee, tea…etc)

No alcohol for 24 hours before blood draw

Drink 8 oz of water with a pinch of Himalayan salt at least 1 hour before blood draw

Try to avoid plane rides the day before/of blood draw

Ask what labs you will be having to determine if fasting or first morning urine is required
For patients with difficult veins consider the following:

Alka Seltzer gold: 1 packet in 8oz glass of water at least 1 hour before blood draw

Rehydration drops: 1 dropperful in 8oz glass of water 2 hours before blood draw

Using 1-2 lbs weights (or soup can) before the blood draw to help pump up the veins before the draw (this should be done at home)
